Thank You, God, for a beautiful day.

Leo and I watched the cats in the yard under the trees in the lovely weather,

we both felt the breeze and breathed in the fall coming along.

We went on a walk and marveled at the creek,

I even found a bridge that I didn’t know

crossed Pickens Street.

I rejoiced at my baby walking faster and faster with his push toy,

and how he notices the little details,

like a headband changing the shape of my face.

He has such tiny nails and such soft hair and such strong little fingers that want to pry open my mouth

just to know what’s in there.

I thank You, God, for my husband who has a skill with the clippers that I’ll never match.

Thanks for springy, vacuumed carpet and rice crispy treats and an abundance of clothes-hangers.

Help me always be astonished.

Help me always to wonder at Your wonderful wide world. Amen.
