(Verse One)

recovery success?

relapse avoidance?

monogamy

in

mind, body and spirit?

mind, body and spirit?

health improvements?

self improvements?

Loyalty, trust and love

tried, tested and proven?

(Chorus)

Ask

Ask me

Ask me in December

if the changes really came

if nothing stayed the same

Ask me

Ask

Ask me in December

if anything is different

if everything is better

(Verse 2)

There's time to work

on everything wrong

to make it right

in

mind, body and spirit

mind, body and spirit

health care self care

build the bridges

I burned down

with loyalty, trust and love

(Chorus)

Ask

Ask me

Ask me in December

if the changes really came

if nothing stayed the same

Ask me

Ask

Ask me in December

if anything is different

if everything is better

(Bridge)

in the crisp cool weather

doing more than wishing on a feather

doing more than wishing on a feather

not got a dove or an olive branch

just got love

(Chorus-Outro)

Ask me

Ask

if the changes really came (in December)

if nothing stayed the same (in December)

Ask

Ask me

if anything is different (in December)

if everything is better (in December)

if the pain, if the shame

was left behind, and we hit rewind

Thanks for reading!

Author's Notes: Excuse the extra bracket at the start of the title (will be contacting Vocal about that nonsense!!) - This is my response to Babs' Unofficial Challenge - Ask Me In December. Rather than just sticking to my wheelhouse of poetry, as Babs mentioned making it a song or poem...I went down he song route. It is 100% autobiographical. I have included a link to another piece by me that the song is inspired by. Oh, I also feel I should at state that the phrase "mind, body and spirit" was borrowed, in my mind anyway, from the Irish band Fontaines D.C.'s Boys in the Better Land.

Here is a link to the lovely lady's challenge:
