Ashes

A poem by Brad Nash

By Brad NashPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

There are

A million words

That I could use to describe you,

But you shine too bright to be reduced to those that I can spell.

And like a spell, you enchanted me

And slowly I am beginning to see

I think that I could love you

Now I've learned to love myself.

You are electric.

Your energy, it rushes through my veins.

I close my eyes and pinch myself,

For feeling is believing.

I believe that we could be

The beauty that we long to see

But am I blinded by the light

That I am finally seeing?

Memories slowly fade

So let's make more and keep their colours bright.

If we strip back the bones of what we have

What's left, feels right.

Finally, I can't ignore,

This wake up call

So catch my fall.

I'm rising from the ashes

Of the fire you ignite.
