“Ashes of Us”

Heart broken

By Israr khanPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

“Ashes of Us”

We used to speak in sunlight,
Now silence fills the air—
Your shadow sleeps beside me,
But you’re no longer there.

I trace your name in teardrops
On windows blurred with rain,
Each letter slowly fading,
Like echoes carved in pain.

The house still holds your laughter
In corners choked with dust,
While photographs remember
What time betrayed as trust.

Your sweater hangs forgotten,
Still shaped the way you wore,
But warmth has long since vanished—
You’re not coming back anymore.

I whisper to the silence,
It never whispers back.
Grief walks me like a phantom
Down memory’s endless track.

And though the world keeps turning,
Mine stopped when you were gone—
A song that ends too early,
Yet plays forever on.
