Ashes of the Lamp

Love, hunger, and the city's

By Rohitha LankaPublished 8 months ago 1 min read

The shelterless shadow of the monk

was the earthen hut

He now goes in a wheelchair

On the rotten stilts

The children come on bicycles

The old man's lamp

Has broken in the past

Before darkness comes, the wind

The full lamp in the house

Has gone out

To give light to the extinguished flame

There was no other way

To become a Kisagotami

With blackness

I will find mustard in the house

I will become a city maid

Lying my head on an unfamiliar bed

The pain in my heart

Hunger in my stomach

Surrendering to the same bread

Their limbs are stiff

Fill my sin book

Like a city fire burns rice

If the wife had been beaten

Even now the little ones with empty stomachs

I tried to dye my hair like a broom

So the grasshopper song started playing

I started to give it to you

Why are you going away, looking away

Hiding in my heart

I will buy it soon

I will sell it for a price

Love

I have taken out a lot of dye

I sharpen my nails

I say it with a smile

Love

This is not a lie, this is the truth

I ask you with my heart

Does it hurt my side

Do you know that the elephants who are angry are also angry

I am also a henna, a little bit

My mother once told me, "The one who truly loves you is the one who first bows their head, waits until you are emotionally stable, and then teaches you the ways of the world." Because compared with winning or losing, what he cares more about is your mood.
