Ascent

Rocky Mountain High

By Chris SienerPublished about a year ago 1 min read
Mount Burroughs of Mount Rainier

Witnessing the plethora

of bumblebee and butterfly

bouncing between

wildflower blooms

While ascending

Mount Burroughs

above the cloud cover

of August noon

At nearly 8000’

to the highest peak

I give thanks to God

for this summer summit week

Climbing with family

breathing in mountain air

watching wild goats

roaming here and there

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”"

Isaiah 52:7

The Burroughs peaks lie adjacent to the 14,500’ peak

of Mt. Rainier in Washington (USA), our last climb

before returning home to the ‘flat plate state’ of Indiana
