As I recollect this is how it happened

Memory from five decades ago becomes stronger with time.

By Cheryl E PrestonPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

Forty-nine years ago

We enjoyed our first kiss

I remember the day

The passion the bliss

The memory lingers

It;s seared in my brain

Those days were special

And won't be seen again

As I recollect

It was a Sunday afternoon

We were talking about mutual friends

But things shifted very soon

You laid me back on the couch

And looked deep into my eyes

You were on top of me

Before I could realize

I recall the lingering kiss

So tender and sweet

In that moment

You swept me off my feet

Now that you're gone

The memory is more vivid

I relieve it often

Which makes me livied

The rembrance is all I have

Since you took your last breath

The constant recall of the moment

Is all I have left

Have I made it more special

Over the sands of time

Was it everything I recalled

Or a trick of the mind

I believe the moment is just

As I recall it to be

The day you and I

Became us and we

As time passes the memory

Becomes vibrant and stronger

I cherish itbecause

I don't have you any longer
