Arthur and Oliver vs Clarence the Crab

Adventures of Arthur

By Ian LawtonPublished 6 years ago 2 min read

My name is Arthur, I’m the local hero

But shhh, don’t tell, no ones to know!

With Oliver the Great, my bestest friend

Baddies we battle and apprehend!

Oliver and I, we are both super topnotch

Operating our own neighbourhood watch

Intelligence gathering and looking for clues

Asking questions, conducting interviews

Word came to me, via my step dad

Information to me that sounded quite mad

Fishermen were vanishing, from the sea shore

A beast was mentioned, from Island folklore

Clarence the crab is a creature of myth

Oliver and I had to act fast, swiftly, forthwith!

For Clarence is a dangerous beast of the deep

Who eats fishermen as they lay fast asleep

On the beach at night when they’re meant to be fishing

But end up hanging from his claws, swooshing and swishing

Before down his throat they go with an almighty gulp

Getting chewed, bitten and munched to a pulp

But how to stop him, Oliver and I?

We needed a plan to stop the bad guy

A disguise wouldn’t work, brute strength neither

We took time out, stopped for a breather

One evening Oliver and I we went to the beach

And watched from our hideout, well out of reach

As Clarence the crab patrolled all along the sand

Looking for food in the sea or dry land

Now Clarence the crab is one almighty beast

And on whole villages could easily feast

For he is monstrous, incredibly big

With the appetite of a well hungry pig

But Oliver and I are smarter, cleverer too

With a reputation to live up to

So a trap we set for Clarence the crab

Devised within our chemistry lab

As he patrolled the beach looking for food

We hatched a plan really quite shrewd

In baskets were hid things highly corrosive

Tough to digest and really explosive

So after Clarence the crab had gulped them all down

Oliver and I began our countdown

Till we heard a boom and an almighty spatter

As Clarence exploded into a seafood platter

All the locals turned out for a most succulent feast

On what was left of Clarence the tastiest beast

Comments of “nice” and “my isn’t this yummy”

As Clarence dispersed into everyone’s tummy

Oliver and I we were really quite proud

Of saving the town and feeding the crowd

Until we looked out to see and said with a cuss

“Look at those crabby eyes looking at us!!”

For amongst the waves on the flooding tide

Were huge crabs aplenty, all struggling to hide

Their journey towards us, intentions quite mean

All set on trying the local cuisine

But Oliver and I were ready for come back from Clarences crew

Figuring out early on what it was they would do

And so it was without the slightest of risk

We turned Seagrove bay into a spider crab bisque

By feeding a current of high electricity

And jars of mustard for toxicity

To increase the feast of crustacean beast

To all who lived within the South East

And so it was that our sea shores were free from harm

From those that would dare cause them alarm

Due to the observations of Oliver and I

Always on hand to stop the bad guy!
