The patchwork of my heart

It beats only because it’s hanging on

by thread.

Pulling it gently, to piece back together

resurrecting the parts that were dead.

*

Dripping, congruent to squeezing a tangerine,

pouring out the very last drop.

But not wasted because he salvaged the

pulp of my throb;

*

Of my pain, and every inch of grain.

The potency, of my heart.

Weaving the needle in and out,

removing the dart.

*

It soreness stitched back together,

just a light crack in the center.

*

Stood in the palm of the Weavers hand,

was all of my hurt;

the pitter-patter of my pulse,

was the muse to his patchwork.

    Those opening lines were astounding and the rest equally great. "the pitter-patter of my pulse, was the muse to his patchwork" The ending was also magical. Well done

  • This is a beautiful and very thoughtful work. The imagery is absolutely exquisite.

    Dang, girl. This was vivid and sexy and sad and scary. All in so few words. Loved this!

  • Whoaaaa, this blew my mind! It was sooooo deep and your imageries were so vivid! I'm sooo freaking in love with your poem!

  • More than just an entry to Poppy's prompt, I sense in this how much that time with your ex meant to you while it lasted (& how painful it must have been to have those stiches ripped out), but even more the ongoing ministrations of your faith & the work Christ is doing in you, not merely for a season but forever.

    I love how a patchwork can go in so many different ways. yours is so interesting, weaving real life. The tangerine patchwork is smartly done.

    I don’t know if this a nightmare or a bad episode of life you weave here ?
