Imagine
A captivating performance
Of courtly flourish
And effluent speech
My internal cadence resonates
In mind’s echoing chamber
Lamentably, weak prosody
And habitual mannerisms
Render me an ill-suited
Out-loud orator
For listener delights
Though, if this was
A truly private space
I would brave the boundary
Jump the chasm
Exhale dulcet tones
Draw strength
From kind encouragement
But techno-reivers
Thieves with no honour
Rustle faces, phrases
Plagiarize and pilfer
Wolves wearing
Condemnable paper masks
Tearing strips off our souls
For god knows what
I will not expose myself
In unguarded pastures
For mere coin
Tipping the scales instead
Towards prudence and caution
I do wonder though
What elegant tonal lilt
Would affect thy ears
Bring you joy
These mellifluous thoughts
O’ mine
Can only be made sweeter
By your own internal
Charming affectations
Together we exchange
Syntactical melody
Layering erudite harmonies
To please only ourselves
Your philosophic tabla drums
Establish a lively rhythmic pace
While my musings
Pluck oud strings
of intuitive introspection
Our charming composition
Resides comfortably
In the silent space
Between words
This literary arrangement
Composed with care
Lively chorus belting out
Friendship’s bright tonic
