Are We Really Homo sapiens?

Then we should change our ways

By Seema PatelPublished 9 months ago 1 min read

Each human being

has an inflated sense of self,

they want others

to address them

as 'your highness',

while being full of

monkey business.

This uncle sold liquor

without license,

then built temple complex.

This man forced the woman

to bear a boy child —

die, or live in indignity.

These men, drunk on power,

sold the virgin forest

to industries and developers.

Hell must be crowded

with so many sins.

Can we walk

the path of conscience

for a change,

if we truly are 'Homo sapiens' —

the wise ones?

I love the last line: if we truly are 'Homo sapiens' —the wise ones? It does make you wonder.
