Another Earth Day
A call for action to act wise towards the planet and it's resources

The Earth is fragile, for—
we are turning hostile.
We call ourselves Homo sapiens—
the wise ones—
but our actions are worse
than creatures with no brains.
We laugh at the man
cutting the branch he sits on,
but what exactly are we doing
when we dig the Earth
beneath us hollow,
to raise skyscrapers?
We say the river is holy,
the koi is sacred—
yet, industrial toxic effluents
and household sewage
taint the life-sustaining water.
We say we love fresh air
redolent with fragrant flowers—
yet we poison it with
xeno-estrogenic artificial scents
from our homes and bodies.
We need food to survive—
but does that mean
we will drench the fields
with carcinogenic pesticides?
We are frauds and hypocrites!
I know the Earth Day will come and go,
but our annihilating actions
will continue every day—
until we ruin the future
of our precious children.
Let us pause and reflect.
Let’s think how we can change
our annihilating habits
and come back
from the brink of collapse.

I like the call to action. There's just not enough reflection on what we're doing and where we're going. Well written!
Good
Good job and you give us a lot to think about. I remember in school we used to plant a tree. We even started recycling things way back when.
