There lies a castle up high on a mountain, but tucked away behind massive oaks.

Archaic architecture mesmerizes the soul, drawing people in wondering what secrets lie within.

Little do they know, the creature hiding in the shadows.

Wrapped in her own cocoon, she encompasses herself with her gigantic wings.

She camouflages herself, for her black feathers blend her in the blackness

that creeps into the castle.

Her skin is a pale white, for she stays away from the warm sun.

Fear of exposure, therefore darkness has become her best friend.

Her wings, black from tar, once portrayed the rainbow.

The mirror is just a reminder of the ultimate betrayal.

Trust was breached by the one who should have loved her the most.

Then one day, the sweetest song came to her ears.

So compelling, it warmed the stone that was her heart.

She searched for the song.

It led her outside and followed it to a garden she never knew existed.

There stood a being.

Dignity, radiance, pure love, mercy, and grace were his clothing.

As she approached, he opened his arms wide welcoming her for a hug.

Overwhelmingly raw, she runs to him.

With a simple touch, she could feel her soul heal.

All the pain was melting away.

Then, she noticed a new set of wings, wings now made of jewels.

Filled with joy she follows this being to his land.

There, she learned to love again and to let the light in.
