And We Muttered
We Are Here, We Are Here!

deny, defend, depose
a call to action, i suppose
peeling away our empathy
letting our morals slip away
the vibrant colors start to fade
till black and white, dissolves to grey
a single act
a silent shot
time to react
all else, forgot
gathered as one
needs to converse
a loaded gun
some engraved words
screaming aloud
in unison
the poor, the proud
the innocent
exploding emotions
spent on the ground
rising commotion
with muffled sound
when will we learn
when will they hear
the fire burns
while hope still cheers
for change to come
sweet peace prevails
standing as one
when all else fails

Wow ! Victory united 🥰
Great job and so in sync! I find it abhorrent the comments that people are making on social media, even if they’re angry, somebody was murdered.
Very real and direct writing! Well written!!
It’s strangely apropos in a violent land that we finally have our first meme printed on a bullet casing. I fear it won’t be the last. I applaud your call to action here , Kelli. We need to talk, we need to come together. Excellent poem!
An interesting and thoughtful piece to post today, Kelli.
