Once Upon A Time, two souls met at a market.

She was buying essentials,

he was restocking his fridge.

The twinkling lights above flared to make them bump into one another.

"I am so sorry" she said

"Not to worry" he said.

Small introductions began.

"Are you new" he asked

"It is true" she said

"How do you do" he said

"How kind of you" she said

"Care for a tea" he asked

"Really" she asked

"It is on me" he said.

She gave him a smile.

Many teas later, they shared one soul.

They remained together, inseparable,

And they were happy.

But it wasn't a fairytale.

She waited

years

and years

and years

She wanted to be married to him.

He wanted to just be.

He never proposed to her.

She no longer waited.

They went on to live separate lives in two different worlds,

one day many years later they found each other again in that market.

She had a basket filled with diapers and baby clothes,

he was restocking his fridge.

The twinkling lights above flared to make them bump into one another.

"I am so sorry" he said

"Not to worry" she said.

They remembered their roles in reverse.

"It is you" he said

"How do you do" she said

"It has been quite some time" he said.

She gave him a smile.

"Seems like life is treating you quite fine" he said

"It has been such a time" she said

"Still looking quite fit" he said

"Oh stop it" she laughed

He looks down to see her life continued.

She saw him frown.

"Look at the time, I shall bid you goodbye" he said.

She watched him leave everything behind and leave the market.

She knew she would never see him again.

"It's not mine" she said.

Life continued for them both, but not together.

They still lived happily, after everything.

The passage of time and unfulfilled desires add a layer of longing and melancholy to the story, the reunion at the market, where their roles are reversed, evokes a sense of reflection and missed opportunities, it leaves us with a mix of emotions, reminding us that happiness can be found even in the face of unfulfilled dreams, very nice, thank you very much for sharing, love your works, hope to read more, subscribed.
