& Fire

Other days

By A poem to youPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Though, I should say, at other times

That air catches in my lungs

Strikes on the words alight on my tongue

The very fire of life engulfs

Every fiber of my soul

Every particle of my being

Seared into the universe

In those moments, I am more me

In those moments, I am free

Lost in that very act of being

Each flicker brings me closer to the truth

And as that air is consumed

I am no longer confused

And the sun sparks stark in my soul

Searing as it eats that stillness

Burning as it screams

And I hope it never ends

I hope it burns me alive
