Anchoring the Storm Within
Recognizing and Treating Emotional Disregulation

Anchoring the Storm Within
A word, a glance, a subtle slight,
ignites a fire, burns too bright.
The world is cruel, the walls all sneer,
each echo sharpened, loud and near.
A wave of rage, a flood of pain,
a storm inside I can't contain.
I shout, I cry, but none can see—
the war within swallows me.
Yet some stand firm in steady grace,
speak their truth with measured pace.
Their voices land, their needs are met,
while mine dissolve in drowning fret.
But breath is anchor, time is key,
a pause can shift reality.
Feel the swell, yet let it fade,
step outside the storm it made.
Truth untangled, thoughts made clear,
I learn to name, not bow to fear.
With gentle hands, I shape the flame—
not all offense must end in blame.
A whisper now where once was war,
I lose myself in rage no more.
Through patience, practice, space to heal,
I find the strength to think and feel.

You wrote a poem exploring the human soul. The image of the storm is very powerful, and the emphasis on the strength of patience and self-awareness provides hope and inspiration.
