The bell of liberty is sundered now
No longer audible is freedom’s ring
To mend its broken form, we know not how
For it is cracked, along with everything

Crushed in the hot, moist maw of a dog day
This symbol of freedom could not withstand
The ancient, animal will to obey
Which howls, slavering, at ambitions grand

We are all hounds in an unsightly pack
And though we yearn to run madly at will
To our appointed place we must come back
And whining, pay what’s asked by the steep bill

Accumulated while we spend our days
Not free, but bound by ancient, dogged ways

Nice one! All hounds in an unsightly pack, hahahaha
Is there such a thing as a freedom, still we hope as the bell tolls, sounding our call to arms...and freedom.
Honored to be the first to like this.
