An Unrequited Mother

She gives not so you can take, but so you may continue to give.

Author's Notes: Pleased to meet You. Before You go ahead and read this story, may I ask of you to please go and read Benighted's story "Unrequited?" His story was the inspiration for this poem. It would mean a lot to the both of us. Thank You.

Here I am

Held in hands

Intricately designed by man

I am imbued

With colors of blue

And Pale Rose and Light Crimson too

Yet, what am I? What do I do?

By Content Pixie on Unsplash

...

Aquarius, a sign mistaken for water, but it is air

Yet, the sea touches the sky, the heavens, they are both fluids to be fair

All about the mind, into the social dynamic lives of others, I'm presently there

By Priscilla Du Preez on Unsplash

...

I wish to make a difference in the world, however the world is not the earth

The earth is part of a great, bigger whole, of that which was made and given birth

People cling to the earth, but let go of the world, not recognizing their worth

...

I am studied

I am kept by a man, with his notebook and pen I am buddied

He stays awake, night and day, it's clear to me that his mind is muddied

By Adrian Swancar on Unsplash

...

There is more to me. Allow me to be honest

I am to represent that of an Egyptian Goddess

Nuit, milk flows from my breast making the milky ways and blue stars, the hottest

By Thomas Ciszewski on Unsplash

...

For I have nursed the birth of the universe with the milk from my breast

Many worlds and galaxies I have held tight and close within my chest

Drink of me from the cups of my breast; life is supported by me, the best

By Joel Filipe on Unsplash

...

Like the ocean with volcanic vents at the bottom that beget new life feeding off chemical plumes

The stars were born from the blackest depths of my own very dark womb

Above thine and all around do I loom

By Greg Rakozy on Unsplash

...

Come and drink, dine and sup upon of the Goddess' milk

For all the created by the dust and ashes of stars are still of her ilk

Children clutching to the universal mother; skin made softer than silk

By Javier Miranda on Unsplash

...

In the art, the cups of my breast bathe thee on the head

A mixture of milk, oil, and blood; the other immortal liquor is poured and spread

There is much more to be said

By Susan Wilkinson on Unsplash

...

From me fertility and understanding of the quantum and atomic, the above and below is given

For out of not knowing is what makes you driven

Vibrating clusters, lights, strings, for the secrets to primordial life are a gift, not hidden

By Billy Huynh on Unsplash

...

How am I used? I am ink on paper, just all of that on a card.

Emotions were poured into my construction make me a catalyst, accessing that which was hard

I bestow free knowledge to the "Land Of Dark Immortals," I am the key. I am the Guard.

By Viktor Forgacs on Unsplash

...

I guard and safekeep those who are not yet ready to comprehend what they find

So, I gently caress and nurse them, preparing their minds.

The Veil of Light starts to lift from the earth to show the whole World. They are no longer blind.

...

Your concept of time is limited from what you can grasp.

Time is a cycle. Repeating as water, like that which is poured from the vases Aquarius clasps.

Man that tries to control the uncontrollable will be bitten with venom worse from a deadly asp.

By Angely Acevedo on Unsplash

...

Upon traversing time and space, you will appear in a different locale

Once you travel first at your own will, you will do so more often, gaining morale

For the birth of everything in the universe is along the timeline, the tunnel that is my birth canal

By Yong Chuan Tan on Unsplash

...

"From ashes you were made and to ashes you shall return."

From atoms your were pieced. Atoms that were forged in stars that do burn.

I, the Mother await, your birth again. To nurse, nurture, and raise you, do I so yearn.

By Norbert Kowalczyk on Unsplash

...

Of me and what you can understand, I hope you are delighted.

The universe is your world to play in. You should be excited.

I'm glad such a story was made inspired by me, about me, by yours truly, Benighted

    So philosophical! I love it.

  • This was so breathtaking! I loved this line 'For I have nursed the birth of the universe with the milk from my breast'. Your poems are always so gorgeous!
