Blue and white flowered doonas
Remind me of you
And winter chill
Blue china plates
Are comfort and toasted sandwiches
Blue skies and sunshine
Were less colourful and complicated
Than deep full grey clouds threatening to explode
And wet, shiny concrete bursting in the downpour
And the sound of rain pounding on the tin roof that tastes like safety and excitement
The warm glow of candle light
In a blackout
Sheds warmth over the lounge room
With just enough light to pull you into the pages of your book
Ever since you were taken away
I crave the comfort of the blue doona
And China plates covered in crumbs
And deep grey clouds that crack with silver and blue
And warm golden light pouring through the window
I wish I could colour in the world again
I think when you left, the colour followed you
