Years, years, and years ago,
Inside a holy chateau,
A plan has been carried out:
A bishop builds a timber castle.
Back towards the present day
The timber is now a yesterday
The stone walls stand all
But its stories remain told.
Thousands of nights ago,
Beneath navy skies and an opal glow;
A castle's reflection shimmers upon the surface.
A king takes his last breath.
Back towards the present day,
The early hours of gentle Sunday.
Around children and flowers:
A bride is reborn.
A couple of centuries ago,
Above the watchful eye of a crow;
A man commits fratricide.
The secret is save!
Ever since that fateful night,
Ghosts float in daylight.
Those who visit Newark Castle,
Are never truly alone.
