Is the Statue of Liberty made from stone or paper,
I cannot tell what it stands for from the shape of her,
Is it for freedom or just patriotism, Ask me later,
Politicians acting remorseful can it get any faker,
The Americas were stolen and resulted in mass genocide,
Then built and fortified by people in chains that committed no crimes,
So let's celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks and a large feast,
Turkey, corn, mashed potatoes and maybe some peas,
It's unsettling how we ignore our history and let the media deceive us,
The past can hurt but we must learn and study it no matter how devious,
We always tend to turn bad events into holidays like the death of Jesus,
Is it for us to remember? Or an excuse for us to drink away until we are delirious,
We can not ignore but we should also not obsess about our country's past,
So let’s make sure we understand the wrong and celebrate the good, perhaps?
