Already Loved

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 3 months ago 1 min read

[Verse 1]

They say you’ve gotta love yourself first

Build your worth from the inside out

But I’ve tried that road, and it only hurts

Leaves me chasing shadows, filled with doubt

[Pre-Chorus]

But what if love was never earned?

What if grace was always mine?

Not a prize I had to learn

But a truth beyond the mind

[Chorus]

I don’t need to love myself to be whole

I just need to know I’m already loved

By the hands that shaped my soul

By the light that lifts me up

I surrender all the striving

Let the ego fall away

I’m a child of the Divine

And I’m loved, I’m loved today

[Verse 2]

I’ve whispered mantras in the mirror

Tried to heal with every line

But the voice that said “you’re broken”

Was never truly mine

[Pre-Chorus]

So I lay down all the judgment

And the need to prove my name

I am fearfully made

And I’m not the one to blame

[Chorus]

I don’t need to love myself to be whole

I just need to know I’m already loved

By the hands that shaped my soul

By the light that lifts me up

I surrender all the striving

Let the ego fall away

I’m a child of the Divine

And I’m loved, I’m loved today

[Bridge]

Look at the birds in the sky

They don’t worry, they don’t cry

Yet the Father feeds them still

Am I not more in His will?

Grace is not a thing I earn

It’s the fire in which I burn

I am held, I am seen

I am part of everything

[Final Chorus]

I don’t need to love myself to be whole

I just need to know I’m already loved

By the hands that shaped my soul

By the light that lifts me up

I surrender all the striving

Let the ego fall away

I’m a child of the Divine

And I’m loved, I’m loved today

[Outro]

I’m loved, I’m loved today

I’m loved, I’m loved always
