Along These Lines

A spiral on an A4 Page

By BrenPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 2 min read

every so carefully

i let my words carry themselves

around the edge of my page

even as i write this

with all of its inherent

twisting and turning

i'm not sure of either

path or destination

i creep down the right hand margin

trying to keep my hand neat

(as if right! snort!)

good luck with that

my page has nearly gone and rotated

a whole two seventy degrees

and i have imparted nothing

on the reader

but a spiralling piece of paper

and in my mind i'm dread

i will have to create this simple musing

coax it into the real

it shall become

oh all that that was imagined

one part of my mind

is counting lines

(like an Essendon coach/coke pimp)

and the other is stuck in

the first space down

the last space up

this page these words

this dizzy format

all these circles and lines

like a fool in a lying to ya flip

like a tool at a dying new you trip

like the rule of finishing what yuv done

seeing it thru to the end

but there are many

(there is only one)

i sense many

there are none

i don’t even know what that means

now i'm just lolly gagging now

i could draw a parrots beak meow

i could draw a hastened conclusion

the endless spin in the narrowing

future and it to spins like a maze

ink colour is a given

it simply has to be black

then all these words

that make up this ring

this ring the gift

of both the word and art

the words i see in my mind

are transferred on and into a page

an a4 page

from a pack

from the shop

where i brought it

i stood in line for about a minute

thinking nothing of it

thinking

nothing of the trap that i construct

wittingly and of avid careful attention

a moment more of your time if i may please

from the outer edges of this trembling page

to who knows fuckin where

i invite you to share with me

this rupture of this inner space

this place this time

this ooooooooh what a feeling

these clothes that i'm peeling

this sense this this all

everything at once or nothing

everything at once or nothing

everysinglethingatonce

or nothing

yes i have veered and steered

to the side of the road

and i'm not

surreal poetry
