Along the Twisted Path

Yearning for Safety

Along the twisted path,

Branch after branch

Claws at our limbs.

Danger lurks behind

Each, eerie embankment.

Fear quickly rises

Gripping tightly to our

Hearts and minds.

Imagines race past,

Jumbled and unclear,

Keeping us questioning.

Lingering doubts seep

More and more.

Never relenting

Or surrendering.

Pausing only to

Quell the

Rapid rush of

Sadness, we press on

To our waiting fate.

Under the sky

Veiled in darkness,

We stop abruptly as

Xanthic light bathes us.

Yearning for safety, we

Zero in on the journey’s end.
