Alone Then and Now

With the Silence

Silence...such a command. But as children, a one-word demand.

I fall inward, upon myself. Collapsed like thin wooden planks.

Loud, angry triggers fall into the quiet texts

Empty exceeds its limits, but leaves space for regret.

Now it takes over us, goes into full effect

Could I foresee this as a child? Alone in my bed back then, I never thought

Every mature night would be alone as this: lost in layers of cold quietness.
