Alone, But Not Forever
Finding Hope in Memories and New Connections

My friends are gone, I am alone,
No one to talk to, no one to phone.
The silence is heavy, it weighs on my heart,
Tearing me apart, tearing me apart.
I miss their laughter, their jokes and their smiles,
The way they lit up my world for miles.
Now everything's dark, and I can't find the light,
I'm lost in the shadows, alone in the night.
But I won't give up, I won't let go,
I'll keep searching for a friend, a new soul.
Someone to share my thoughts and my dreams,
Someone to be there, or so it seems.
Until then, I'll keep my head up high,
And look for the silver lining in the sky.
For though my friends are gone, I am not alone,
For I have my memories, my heart, my home.

Fantastic
I have definitely felt this way at times in my life. You expressed this beautifully!
A salute to our friend 'hope'. And I hope this isn't too accurate a portrait of how things actually are for you right now Jess Ann. Joyce Carol Vincent's story will haunt me for life!
Beautiful poem! I can relate, don't rush into any new friendships if you're feeling lonely though. If you let the friendship form naturally, you'll have family forever!
