All We Have Left

(Withholding)

A breath of fresh air

Born from Friendship

And teasing words

Your lips turning upward

Me thinking it reached your eyes

You pull me close

You pull me close, you pull me close

And it only means something

When I am suddenly far

My arms are reaching

My vision is blurring

How can someone be

So distant and so near?

My poetry is practically

Writing itself now

Please don't take a

Match to the pages

Your hands look like they

Have carried entire worlds

Why can't they hold me too?

Here are my words

The only ones my poetry

And my heart and my hands

Agree with - I love you

Please don't tear them apart

The letters don't look so good

On the own

(Neither do I)

My heart is reaching

The lines blurring

Why can't reality be

Like my dreams?

I hand you grenades as if

They can cause as much

Damage as you did

Please come back

Not to stay but to

Tend to my injuries

Please give me an explanation

And I'll give you my forgiveness

Its all we have left

(So stop holding onto it)
