All My Flowers Die
A breakup poem

I adored discourse, you loathed verbose.
I craved wild, lilac empires,
you dreamt of white, picket homes.
I cared for dragon fruit, you:
🍐pared-down tastes & tones.
All my flowers die
(when you mute)
purple
prose.

Author's Note: I know that 🍐 is spelled "pear", but that was a play on words. I apologize if I'm being Captainess Obvious here. 🫣
"Purple Prose" is also known as flowery writing. This poem was inspired by some recent research I've been doing on Purple Prose vs. Pared-Down Prose. Here is an article I really enjoyed:

This is great, Gina!! You really explored the contrasting approaches/preferences so well!
This is wonderfully done Gina!
“Pared- down tastes!” That’s great Gina and says a lot. I loved the rhyme and imagery, as well as the back and forth ‘ideals’ (if you can call them these) between the two partners. This is very clever, and not purple prose to me. 👏☺️
People say opposites attract but in my opinion, it's just too overwhelming at times to deal with someone who's polar opposites at everything. I'm not a fan of it hehehehe Also, I've never known about pared down prose but just realised that that's my writing style. I'm not a purple prose person hehehehe. I truly loved the concept you used for this Nonet!
Gina!!! This was so beautifully done from the words used, the structure, everything! I hope this gets TS! <3
Fantastic! My attempts to create a profound Nonet drag me down into a dismal world where I had been drowned in abuse. Whenever I try to put any part of it into such a small stream of words, I find my childhood rupturing outward into a form of uncontrollable sobbing on my part, and a senseless, mangled formation of all of the most depressing words I know, with absolutely no cohesion, typed out onto my computer in a pointless rhyme.
Great poem, beautiful. And I personally really appreciate the little information you have at the bottom of your poem, with the educating article. It's helpful for those of us who don't know a whole lot about poetry.
Good flow.
Beautifully said.
Oh, I loved the word play and the purple prose theme :) I'll have to go exploring now too. Just beautiful wording :)
Lovely piece of work, Gina.
