All is Vanity

[slam poem turned praise]

By Amelia MapstonePublished 8 months ago 1 min read

Pleasure, what do you have for me?

You are a treasure that broke before it was made, food which expired aeons ago.

Profit, what could you give me?

You are overflow from a greedy man's pocket, which he forgot to lock, leaking all his secrets.

Publicity, you are nothing to me.

How could you be anything, when everyone who sees through your lens hates me?

Pain, you cannot shame me.

He who heals my wounds also unwinds you from my throat.

O Peace of Infinity, you are so Good to me.

How shall I serve Thee? 🤍
