Heavy, mad as the sun came riding, beating the rhythm of shadows,
Quiet as dreamers who had sung all the songs,
Dying at dawn in the shallows
Drowning the hopes they had birthed here,
By fields swallowed by the screams of the flowers, haunted and swept by the blood
And mixed like a vision in starlight,
The gold, and the bones in muddied deep ditches
And dreamt in the corpses of love
Faded like shores in the mist
Children with eyes full of diamonds, burying hearts in the dark
Casting them down in the chasms, barked and bared
With the marks....
But listening....for the girl who sang on the edge of the world,
Velvet, fire, and fury
Rich as the rain through the mountains,
Cut by fear of the sound and
Woven by wishes she wondered,
Shuddered like leaves in the wind
Burying her lover, sinned, and scarred dimly
Like the smoke that rolls out on the rim,
Of the river, forgotten in freedom, and faded
Where are the hearts in the darkness?
Where is the girl in the dream?
Where has the sun gone in madness?
Why does this seem its all passing?
Hushed is the song of the people,
Why does it beat what we love?
Crushed, the memories wailing
Those that were here and above
High on the cliffs are the ravens
Whetted and wicked and blind,
Sighing with low and deep laughter,
"The thing that but sleeps cannot die"
A silvery figure in the forest
Silently beckons to me,
I have spent all I have to know what I am,
And yet I am rich as the sea
The ocean promises it will give you all riches,
But keeps you to sleep in her kingdom,
The forest steals from your pockets,
But lets you see where you have come from
The summer is hushed on our breathes,
And speaks and humming we listen,
Perhaps in the deep if we kiss against
Longing, and memories death,
Perhaps we may all be forgiven
Perhaps we will never be faded,
All, forever, and never be faded
