In halls of learning, where hearts should grow,
A gentle soul faced trials, as she'd go.
Her skin, a canvas of radiant white,
A target for taunts, and endless fight.
With each step forward, a question would sting,
"Can you see well?" a hurtful thing.
As if her sight was cloudy, her worth unclear,
Her heart, a heavy burden, year by year.
Her parents, protectors, with love so true,
Shielded her close, but what to do?
Trust issues crept, like shadows on the wall,
As she faced rejection, and heard the cruel call.
In sports, she sought solace, a place to belong,
But doubts lingered, and she was left to atone.
Her differences, a barrier, a wall to climb,
A dream of acceptance, seemingly left behind.
"A smile, a pose, a captured frame,
Yet fear creeps in, with a lingering shame.
Will they laugh, will they stare, will they see?
The doubts whisper loud, 'Don't let them see me'."
She sought comfort in strangers fake complements
"Your skin so spotless , what do you use"
She cried and cried as days went by , seeking for who would see beyond her skin
She tried her best in all she could , rather being appreciated , her skin left as excuses .
But still she rose, like a dawn's early light,
Her spirit unbroken, her will, a beacon bright.
She found her strength, in the darkness and pain,
And learned to embrace, her unique beauty's refrain.
With time, she stood tall, and shone like the sun,
Her worth, no longer measured, by what others had begun.
She saw the world, with a heart full of cheer,
And proved that her differences, were what made her dear.

There is so much beauty in uniqueness. I enjoyed your heartfelt poem - thank you for sharing.
This world places far too much importance on appearances and not enough on the depth of the soul.
