On the eighth of May the angels came
To escort a new arrival
The waxing moon steadily rose
Chasing after its rival
Upon the bed where you laid
Your soul had gone to trial
For entry into heaven
Commands a souls revival

How impressed the angels were
When you proved lighter than a feather
‘t was then that your life’s work
Were gathered all together
As the angel unfurled your scroll
It caused them all to banter
How long it was since they had seen
Such courage in the face of danger

Sagacity ingenuity and charity
Overflowed from your being
Your equal in this universe
Was there ever one seen?
You bore your trials dignified
Surpassing king or queen
Farewell my gentle warrior,
On this your transient scheme

Albert please know I love you
I pray you rest in peace
Forever my soul will mourn you
My tears will never cease
To me you were a hero
Whose compassion always increased

I remember as a child
How I loved your scruffy beard
To be held in your arms
Was for all I ever cared
I’ll cherish every memory
Of all the times we shared

Do you remember how hard you tried
To teach me how to sing
For the life of me I couldn’t get
What keys the songs were in
You’d throw your hands up to the air
And enter in a fit
To this day you make me laugh
Each time I think of it

When I look into the mirror
I see you in my eyes
Sharing all your talents
Came to me as no surprise

A chip carved from a block
Was all I ever was
My idolizing of you
Came naturally, just because
Because you are my daddy
My mentor and my fortress
No matter what, I’ve loved you yet
Through good and bad regardless
Regardless of the weather
Or should the world come to an end

My daddy I miss you so
My true and dearest friend
