Airport Sitting

Are we living life, or awaiting death?

Stuck on a chair

Inside an airport

Freedom to go out and explore,

Fear to find more

Hours have passed

Almost time to depart

Our final temporary destination

About to reach, we are

A day has gone by

Sat patiently, wasn’t so hard

But I wonder, was it right?

Back we shall be,

Exploring will so be

Could’ve done some today,

Not that today was a bad day

Fear is what I question

Fear and structure

Are they always our best option?

Are they, instead, holding us back?

Airport is fine,

But is life?

Are we waiting around for life?

Life certainly isn’t waiting for us

Is fear of the unknown holding us back?

Are structure & scheduling pushing us far?

Far from our finish lines,

In opposite direction I stand

Phones need to be put down

Seats need to be removed

Legs need to be put to use

A whole world out there,

& just us in here

sad poetry
