Africa Begins - We continue.
Aluta Continua. Vitoria e certa. The Sonnet of Shadows. .
We still beat the freedom drums. Boom. Boom. Boom!
We still sing holy hallelujah songs of this strange land...
Where they though that God had forsaken Black Africa.
But time spoke through the first ones. Those that knew the lash
Who bled at trees that bore strange fruit...
As Mother Earth remained faithful and fruitful,
Long after death had been their battle call.
The trees wrote their language, the leaves their glory
Their songs still echo...becoming our prayers
They survived ghosts of cruel ships, with scraps from squalor
Blood from shame...strength from ashes,
Their heads were bowed, but still held high, hope a weapon
We march for those who long ago, made do...fought on
Through adversity...so we could be free...Aluta Continua.

Powerful and pensive, Novel!
Very powerful poetry and nicely done
Continuing through adversity and despite the wounds of injustice, the entire diaspora shows so much resilience, and so many instances of human strength that I find inspiring
I felt the power of this
This is powerful! The weight of history, resistance and survival. Incredibly done! 💖🌟
