yeah i took the acid test
took it and fuckin passed
must have been all the study i did
i was in the top of my class
i was able to see the fallen angels
in a piece of broken glass
a chaotic kaleidoscope of careful colours
of a now yet to come to pass
i could taste more than one possible future
a ting on the tip of my tongue
i savoured every bite of these tomorrows
each morsel a meal begun
i heard the echo of eternity
extolling the insignificance of measured time
how could it be i could hear and not see
that most of those echoes were mine
my skin felt like a Bill suit
made of so many me ‘s
tucked tight in this taut tanned tissue
i was able to take a measure of ease
and of the odours that reached my nose
an olfactory show and tell
the best i could do was give each a sniff
and arrange them alphabetically by smell
yeah i took the acid test
but what did it take of me
no sweat, no regret, nothing is set
just have to wait and see
