Distortion reflects back

I catch my gaze—

but who I see isn’t me.

..

The curves of a woman,

Formed by nature,

Loathed by herself,

Yet admired by all.

..

Contoured by society,

She pinches her skin,

Resenting her shape,

Wishing to be less.

..

She weeps at the mirror,

Pleading for change

Blind to her beauty

That has never faded

..

The brilliance of her mind,

Her soul,

Her whole being—

She shines brighter than any diamond,

Inside and out.
