A Winter Scene

Through the veil of snow and tears

Through the silver veil of snow,

I saw the stately trees

With boughs burdened by the glow

Of moonbeams dancing in the breeze.

Cherubs flying in the night

Shed their mystic light below,

Making earth a sparkling sight

Where'er it is blessed by snow.

Through the veil magic fell

Borne by the silver snowflake.

And nature lies 'neath its spell

That only snow could ever make.

The crystal glass on yonder pond

Rests enchanted in snowy veil.

It is the curtain to beyond

Whilst powdered diamonds downward sail.

Through the veil of snow and tears,

I muse upon the winter scene

And bid farewell to all past years

In the veil of snow unseen.
