A Winter's Joy

poem submission

By CT IdlehousePublished about a year ago 1 min read

Crunch of boots in ankle-deep snow...

Smell of damp wool and melting ice.

Blankets of white cancel noise...

A frigid winter wasteland of sleeping flora.

/

The tree branches encased in crystal...

Glisten in the sparse sunlight.

Icicles form from the eaves...

Decorating homes with natural ornaments.

/

Children laugh amidst snowball warfare...

Snowmen guard the lawns with the angels.

Sleds glide swiftly down icy hills...

Thrilled shrieks of joy fill the air.

/

Snow falls once more like white confetti...

Adorning hats and umbrellas with crystal flakes.

Warm mugs of hot cocoa heat frigid hands...

Winter wonderland glows in the night.
