Cross The River

poem/song for the dying and grieving

By CT IdlehousePublished about a year ago 1 min read

Sometimes loved ones cling on to life...

Even when their bodies have lost the fight...

They don't want to leave us all behind...

/

I can't promise you that we won't cry...

And I can't promise you that we'll be fine.

But it's okay for you to cross the river...

It's okay to leave the pain and seek the light.

/

Sometimes loved ones need permission to die...

They don't want to burden us when it's time...

They're terrified of what's on the other side...

/

I can't promise you there'll be an afterlife...

I can't promise you we won't miss you in this life.

But it's okay for you to cross the river...

It's okay to leave the pain and seek the light.
