A Winding Road

The drive

Let’s go for a Sunday drive

Down a long and winding road

The passing fields will be freshly mowed

With the top down, we’ll feel so alive

*

We will stay out well past five.

As we go, we can recite an ode.

I will surprise you with the picnic I stowed

We will know when we arrive

*

We will find a place where we can be alone.

So we can cuddle as we watch the sunset.

Make sure to shut off the phone.

But we won’t go home yet.

For our love, we have to hone.

To keep our love sharpened and whet.
