A Wilderness of Billboards

Welcome to the land of the grand, bland and annoyed

Feel free to do a little shouting into the void

Nobody gives a single shit what you may have to say

But our play is we pray you say it anyway

So lie down, get comfy! Make yourself at home

You'll never feel alone so long as you own a phone

Keep scrolling now

You're on a roll now

Slide a little deeper into that rabbit's hole now

We call this free speech

The World Wide Web's within your reach

So flash a selfie and post up your peach

But it's all manufactured reactions

A world-wide web of instant distractions

And shallow gratifications

To blind your eyes to the slow creep of each corporate leech

To bend your ears towards the doctrines those corporate priests preach

To busy your hands with subscriptions to performative factions

To bind your life in the practical inaction of compulsive consumption

Welcome to the land of the fans, brands, and cheap toys

We call this free speech but it's only a ploy

To keep you spending and spinning in the chase for real joy

So boot up your screens and boot up your feet

And march left right left to the capitalist beat

Or

Fuck off from the land of the ads and the fads and the lies

And flex your freedom by saying bye bye to buys

Bye bye to buys, I especially loved that!

Absolutely killer! A sharp, rhythmic punch to the gut of consumer culture. It reads like a rebellious anthem—cynical, witty, and dripping with truth. Loved the flow and wordplay!
