A War I May Not Win

You can only fight for so long

By Shelby SchwartzPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

He battles a war in his mind

He will never be the same man he was before

The only way he feels it can be fixed, is to place a bullet to his head

He covers it up, to save a few lives

But how do you justify? How is that okay?

He won’t let anyone in

Keeping it all inside

Staying strong, being tough

But you can only act for so long

Before it consumes you. Before it destroys you

The pain only grows

A raging war in your mind

The torture, the screaming

I feel his pain.

It pours on me like rain

It may not be the same

But I know

I understand

And like him,

It’s a war I may not win.
