Close your eyes and inhale a deep breath
these are your last moments in this life
and there are things you don't want to forget
Think about the little childhood moments
the handful when you were actually carefree
think of the wonder in you when seeing a rainbow
Your best friend who was like your other half
the one who was there through good and bad
cherish the laughs, the cries, and every smile
Remember the time you felt love at first sight
the way your eyes connected and time stilled
and the way he held you after your very first fight
Then years later he is putting a ring on you
all dressed in white and given a forever kiss
bubbles blowing with shouts of congratulations
Can't forget the never ending night of screams
she was a week overdue and staying put
even when the doctors induced contractions
Hours of feeling the pains and exhaustion
anticipation of hearing her first cry of breath
then ending up having to have her cut out
Lots of tugging and pulling but no more pain
they had a white sheet up to block your view
the look on your husband's face said it was wise
The doctor said he was pulling her out now
there was scary silence for several moments
then when she finally cried you started too
***
These memories replayed by an angel for peace
as he smiled and gently grabbed her by the hand
she said she was ready and accepted his embrace
Her daughter sat next to her in the hospital room
wondering what her mother had just seen
shedding a tear as her mother's spirit disappeared
