If I keep still and quiet

Maybe he won't know I'm here

Mama and Papa are gone

There's nobody left but me

This is the only home

I've ever known

A place where I could run free

No worries, day or night

This beautiful land

Where men have struggled and died

To build a better life

For all Ukrainians

Must it end this way?

My family and friends

The people I love

Our lives shattered

Our hopes and dreams crushed

A little bird

Lands on a tree branch near me

She knows no boundaries, no restrictions

Free to go wherever she pleases

I wish I could fly away like her

sad poetry
