I'm About To Be Cut In Half

I wiggle my toes

It's the very last time

I will ever wiggle them

In a few minutes

I will be wheeled into the operating room

And cut in half

It has to be, they tell me

There's no other way

The cancer has consumed my pelvis

Eating its way through my insides

My legs and feet are fine

Nothing wrong with them

But they have to go as well

With no pelvis to support them

There is nothing for them to be

Attached to

What will life be like

As half a person?

Never to dance again

Nor to make love

A needle is inserted

Into my arm

And everything goes blank
