A Trust Broken

Where forgiveness ends and strength begins

By Rohitha LankaPublished 8 months ago 1 min read

Oh sister, if you have one, give me an onion.

She came asking for it today, too.

I had a habit of giving her even what was in her stomach.

Don't take more than you need.

My mother-in-law didn't like her for some reason.

Poor people are blessed when they help.

I always thought that way. If the child is sick, give it to the little ones.

I always gave them money with love. Don't give them anything.

The child needs some money too.

Even when my daughter goes to work, she always comes back.

My mother-in-law always says something. Now,

I feel like she's avoiding me.

I've been running around for a while now.

I've stopped coming completely. ...

Because it was a holiday,

I couldn't believe my eyes while looking for her...

When I saw my husband's pair of slippers at the door,

I entered the house without speaking...

With a laugh,

I opened the door curtain of the room, and saw her in bed with my husband...

When I felt a feeling that was not pain or anger,

I hit my husband with the blanket...

Immediately, she gave him a blanket too and ran home crying...

I said,

First, my mother-in-law blamed me, but though

Those words seemed reasonable...

I apologized, even though he said it a thousand times,

I filed for divorce...

If mother wants to stay with me, my mother-in-law

Would stay with me...

Divorce, even after years of apologizing, he took her into his home without fear because she trusted him.

There is no life where trust is broken. As the child's father, he was always far away.

Was this a real event? This was so sad, yet beautifully written and Contemplatively vivid in parts, I could feel the pain through every word…
