A Time to Love, a Time to Lie
To let go when the soul must fly

A Time to Love, a Time to Lie
The clock moves slow when no one’s near
A whispered name, I strain to hear
He touched my hand, then looked away
As if the truth would start to fray
He laughed in spring, he wept in fall
But never once confessed it all
He called it love, and maybe so
But lies can bloom where soft things grow
He brought me light then hid the flame
And kissed me deep without a name
A sweet regret beneath each sigh
A time to love, a time to lie
I wore his silence like perfume
His ghost still breathing through my room
Some vows are made with lips not words
Some truths are never meant to hurt
He knew me more than I knew him
Our shadows touched on every whim
But hearts don’t keep what minds deny
A time to love, a time to lie
So here I stand, the night grown thin
With all the could have beens within
He taught me how to say goodbye
Without a tear, without a cry
