Boom, flash, crack!

***

Rain falls heavily

As streaks light up the night sky.

***

I walk through the storm,

My eyeglasses blurring with each drop of water.

***

The air is warm,

Contrasting the cool rain.

***

I keep my steps quick,

Worried the lightning might strike me down.

***

I make it to my front door,

The sounds of the sky and roof flooding my ears.

***

The thunder continues to roar,

Even in the safety of the inside.

***

Welcome to the Texas storm season.
