A Sparrow and The Giant
Sparrow's in the Storm

A Sparrow and The Giant
Is that a sparrow I see in the oak tree?
Its feather’s colors brightly displayed for me.
Shaken by life’s winds, it’s tossed and blown,
By a rainstorm through which it had flown.
Sitting upon a branch almost in the dark,
It waits and watches for a time to disembark.
Shivering from the wind’s constant attack,
It clings to the giant whose bark is scarred and black.
Swaying in the evening’s dying dimming light,
The giant’s canopy readies for one more fight.
The giant sways warning the sparrow not to take flight,
So the victim of the storm’s beating nestles out of sight.
“Blow as hard as you can!” the giant shouted,
“I’m planted in firm soil, not sand as thought,” it cried.
“I’ll be standing tall, long after you’ve passed by,
“Remaining a sanctuary for those who want to soar high.”
With its proclamation ended, the giant covered the sparrow,
To keep it safe and dry and away from all sorrow.
During the storms of its life, the sparrow knew,
Where to go to be safe when raging storms pass through.
